Impeccably accomplished!  Supremely qualified!  Without a doubt some of the most recognizable names in rock ‘n’ roll history, with pedigrees befitting rock royalty.  Geoff Downes of Yes, ASIA, and The Buggles on keyboards; Carmine Appice of Vanilla Fudge, Jeff Beck, and Rod Stewart on drums; Gene Cornish of The Rascals on guitar; Rudy Sarzo of Ozzy Osbourne, Quiet Riot, Whitesnake, and Blue Öyster Cult on bass; Phil Naro of Peter Criss’ KISS Army, and Talas on vocals and guitar; and, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal of Guns N’ Roses on guitar, have joined together to form The Platinum Rock All Stars ready to bring their respective highly acclaimed collection of classic hit songs to life at the Arcada Theatre, 105 East Main Street, Saint Charles, IL 60174, on Saturday, October 22nd, at 7:00pm.  Tickets are available through Extremetix here.

Billed as a ‘Supergroup’ by their press one-sheet, The Platinum Rock All Stars are in reality just a bunch of cool guys who are consummate musicians that have a sincere love of their profession and a complete dedication to and passion for their craft.  And, together with their fans, enjoy fun times and one heck of a good party.

“I think if you go back to when ASIA was formed, that was billed as the first Supergroup in the 80s.” explains legendary musician Geoff Downes.  “I was fortunate to be a part of that.  And, I think the whole thing is that a lot of people think these things are manufactured and that they get put together by someone in the backroom.  But I’ve known certainly most of the guys socially that we’re playing with now.  Once you get your head down into it, you don’t feel that you are in a Supergroup, you just feel you’re in another band.  It’s a great band!  We’ve only had a couple of days rehearsing.  It’s real interesting to play with these guys.  I expect a change from the other bands that I’ve been involved in.  We all seem to get on pretty well and it’s a wealth of music that we have between us.  And, we’ve sold a lot of records between all of us too.”

It can be very difficult to understand that so many aspiring musical artists never enjoy any modicum of success.  To have one hit song and a couple of years of success in the music business/entertainment industry is in and of itself miraculous.  But, to have more than thirty, forty or even fifty years of high achievement, accomplishment, and success is nothing short of magical!  Those who are extremely talented and highly regarded, who continually aspire to keep themselves at their very best, to be the very best they can be, to not only wanting to set the bar but to raise it every time out, is a testament to their dedication, virtuosity, resiliency, extreme creative talents, respect for the process, respect for other creative and talented individuals, and a deep desire to succeed…just like each member of The Platinum Rock All Stars.

“It’s actually very natural,” adds Downes.  “I think the main thing is that we have a lot of respect for each other and that is key in making good music.  When you think about the guys I’m working with and all of the respect that we have, it’s kind of a symbiotic relationship.  You may not really be able to work with some people, but in this case, we feel very confident and optimistic.”

One look at the proposed setlist suggests an incredible time to be had by all:  “Roundabout” – Yes, “Owner of a Lonely Heart” – Yes, “Only Time Will Tell” – ASIA, “Heat of the Moment” – ASIA, “Video Killed the Radio Star” – The Buggles; “You Keep Me Hanging On” – Vanilla Fudge, “Superstition” – Beck, Bogert, and Appice, “Hot Legs” – Rod Stewart, “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy” – Rod Stewart; “Good Lovin‘” – The Rascals, “People Got to Be Free” – The Rascals, “Groovin‘” – The Rascals, “You Better Run” – The Rascals, “How Can I Be Sure” – The Rascals; “Cum On Feel The Noize” – Quiet Riot, “Here I Go Again” – Whitesnake, “Is This Love” – Whitesnake; “Crazy Train” – Ozzy Osbourne; “Welcome to the Jungle” – Guns N’ Roses, “Sweet Child O’ Mine” – Guns N’ Roses, “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” – Guns N’ Roses.  This indeed is one fun show surely not to be missed!
