It's a Holiday tradition.  The Jingle Ball tour hit over a dozen cities including Dallas, San Jose, Los Angeles, Saint Paul, Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Toronto, Washington DC, Atlanta, Tampa, and Miami.  Making the grand round is great, but guaranteed none of those cities were as loud as Chicago.

Luckily there was no dashing through the snow this year in Chicago.  It was all about making spirits bright with top notch artists slaying songs tonight.  Bells on bobtails ring!!

And all for good cause.  The Jingle Ball Tour gives back $1 of each ticket sold.  This year’s official charity was the Ryan Seacrest Foundation which has built Seacrest Studios in 10 prominent children’s hospitals throughout the US providing opportunity for patients and interns to explore radio, television, and new media.  Days after her Chicago performance, Halsey met with some of the patients at Seacrest Studios inside the Children’s Medical Center in Dallas.

The energy at this years show was much different than last.  All-star singer songwriters Charlie Puth & Julia Michaels, and incredible performances by Kesha, Camila Cabello, and the third ever live performance of Halsey performing “Closer” with The Chainsmokers, it is no wonder the 'noise-o-meter' was off the charts.

The crowd sounded so unbelievably good, singing along to every song played.  The artists recognized and thanked them claiming they’re the best crowd on tour thus far - and I actually believed them.

I was so happy to be part of this night, mid-December in Chicago with an outside temp of 13 degrees.

The musicianship and energy was different this year compared to last...True artists took the stage; ones who write it, own it, and sing it.  The artistry was more than appreciated; the crowd ecstatic about the realness of what was brought to stage.

Why Don't We gave the mass-majority teen-girl-crowd something to get excited about.  As flammable as the air in AllState arena was, they still attempted to light it up.  Corbyn Besson, Daniel Seavey, Zach Herron, Jonah Marais, and Jack Avery rotated on stage, robotically singing along to their part.  These American pop boys do indeed got "Something Different" than the ladies of the night.  You’re thinking it, I’m not saying it.

Liam Payne came out to a more responsive crowd.  Former boy-bander, blazing a name for himself, commendably breaking away from his track to ensure we know he can sing.

He sexes it up with three of his hottest songs; crowd enthusiastically providing response to "Strip That Down"...

- now I’m out free   - get rowdy   - 6 gear speed   - grinds on me

“Chicago ba-ba-ba-babyyyyy”. He sounded like the air-horn ending first quarter of an intense round.  “You are loud tonight!  You are loud; you are feeling it!”
He makes loud sound so naughty.

“Welcome to the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball everybody.”  What a host.  He goes on to thank Capital One.

“How did you enjoy the boys?”  Referring to Why Don’t We,  “Quite lovely, hey?”
Liam carries on in his English accent, which we are all fine with.

He claims it's been Christmas for awhile; He’s been janglin’ balls on this tour for awhile.

He sings a sec of Camila Cabello’s “Havana”, the crowd seemed to appreciate that.  Then he coos Charlie Puth’s “Attention” in beautiful falsetto...going on to explain that Charlie Puth wrote “Bedroom Floor” for him.

Bbrrr-Bbrrr!
Liam, it’s Charlie on your iphone.
He said it was over, but your clothes say different on his stage-floor...

-Merry Charlie Christmas-
I didn’t see any Marvin Gaye’in goin’ on, but 2016 GRAMMY-nominee Charlie Puth instigated a lotta swayin’ to the funk he brought with “Attention”.

Charlie is HOT and that is exactly what Billboard calls him.  He was dropping his next album like that too...and doing a lot of talking which he called himself out on:  “blah, blah, blah.  Ok I’m gonna sing”.

But his rambling is definitely worthy of a mention.
He prefaces “One Call Away” as the song that put him on the map and graciously honors Chicago’s 103.5 KISS FM support.

“Sing it with me, that’s what I was gonna say.”  And, with a deep breath, he goes into it.  Superman definitely has got nothin’ on him.

Charlie is quite the animated performer, swooning us with his gifted phenomenon called “perfect pitch.”  Thanks music teacher Mom Puth.

He’s been teasing his new album for sometime now.  Charlie, how long has this been going on?

Humility ever-prevalent amongst super talented songwriters, he goes into his last song with an explanation…  “I’m like an artist by accident”. Talking about the song he wrote for Sam Smith.

“I love Sam.  Sam’s like one of my best friends.”  As he intros, the hopes of the impact of “See You Again” become apparent...cue the song...yes, THAT song.
The crowd tries to out-loud each other in shout-singing.  A shouted “I LOVE YOU!” breaks the torrent yellody.  The ecstatic crowd became frantic for this one song.
And, in dramatic fashion, Charlie leaves the stage without a word.  Until we see you again Charlie Puth...on the Hot chart.

The women of the night...Holy Jingle Balls Batman.  Kesha insisted all the kickass independent women in the house stand-up right now!  She brought the beast for all her animals; Edgy pop with rock influence and a conscience.  It's just Kesha and her human experience.  She’s let go and definitely taken back her magic.

Julia Michaels delivered her every song that is everything everywhere - who knew she is the woman behind every 2017 hit you didn’t know she was a part of!  Her personality featured in the dimples, emphasized with with gramophone sparkle.

Halsey is just awesome; nothing plain and simple about that.  T.A.L.E.N.T.E.D.  She’s making the writers of the world wrack their brains describing her talk/rap/sing.  I’m going with rhapsody-rip.  Her music is so damn good.

Hola Hola Hola Hola!  Camila Cabello’s got that la la la la la la la
Big-voice, unbelievable range, and super-sexy sing swag, casked in an adorably respectable package pleading “Oh My God”.  She’s a class-act.  Talking a million miles an hour, her Latina as vibrant as ever.  There’s no taming her excitement ooo na-na.  “Havana” has been burning down the board.  We’ll never be the same; her debut album out January 12th.

Demi Lovato put on a damn production.  There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with being confident.  I wouldn’t even question it.  Sorry, Not Sorry.  I look up to ddlovato; she made vulnerability cool, exposing the ugliest of her ugly, she’s redefined herself as an incredibly sexy-beautiful woman with a strong message.  I hear ya Demi.

Unbelievable talent from young and talented individuals.  Singers, songwriters, performers.  This year’s Jingle Ball is one to be remembered.

Each artist commented on the energy and loudness of the crowd.  Charlie said super matter-of-factly, “You guys are the loudest all tour.” It had to been one of the loudest crowds Allstate Arena has ever had.  Camila Cabello didn’t have to think twice about it “Oh My God, I think this is the best Jingle Ball crowd I’ve seen so far.”  -crowd cheering-  “Yeah, definitely the best Jingle Ball so far!”  There has to be stats posted somewhere.  Kesha’s crew has a decibel reader; she claimed it had to’ve been off the charts.  It HAD to have been!  It was an amazing crowd.

This one shall tide me over... ’Til next year’s ride.  Jingle all the way.
