Fans of all ages gathered in anticipation of the return of “Evil Disco” industrial metal rockers Static X to House of Blues Chicago.

Directly supporting Static X was Dirge Within. This band gave it their all for the duration of their set. They had energy, charisma, and displayed a huge amount of passion during their performance. They warmed up a crowd that started out thin but grew as the night progressed. When their set was done the curtain closed and the crowd waited for Static X to take the stage.

After close to a thirty-minute changeover, the curtain opened and the band played the title track off their 2001 platinum record Wisconsin Death Trip which - although not many people realize it - was supposed to be the original name of the band when they formed in 1994. Static X is led by Wayne Static on guitar and vocals. Static is the only original member of the band currently in the lineu;, Static X is now made up of Ashes on Lead Guitar, Brent Ashley on Bass, and Sean Davidson on Drums. It didn’t even take thirty seconds into the first song before a large mosh pit formed in the crowd, and crowd surfers quickly followed suit. It was clear early on that the fans were ready to take on the Evil Disco that is Static X. The band’s set continued with many of the songs that the crowd had patiently waited to hear. Wayne took the time to even point out that his niece, mom and dad were all in attendance (and could be seen rocking out on the 2nd floor balcony). Static’s vocals were spot-on and the energy by the band behind him was high. The crowd seemed to enjoy every single moment of the band’s set from beginning to end.
